Founded in 1869, our girls school serves 130 boarding and day students from across the country and around the world in grades 7-12. Three guideposts define our Stoneleigh-Burnham Students. They are multi-dimensional learners, aspirational leaders and committed community members. At SBS, diversity, equity and inclusion are not merely worlds. We do this work every day with intention. Stoneleigh-Burnham School inspires our students to become active agents of their own destiny. We challenge every learner to find and develop their voice, become their best self, and graduate with the confidence and empowerment to continue on the journey of their choosing.
Unique Characteristics
We also have four signature highlight areas that separate us from other independent schools.
- International Baccalaureate: We are the first and now the only New England girls school to offer the International Baccalaureate diploma programme.
- Debate and Public Speaking Society: Our world class Debate and Public Speaking Society consistently sends students to the world individual debate & public speaking competition.
- VOICE 10: As part of our voice-development bedrock, we admitted our inaugural cohort for our new one-year voice and empowerment certificate program exclusively for 10th graders. It is called VOICE10, and we believe it to be the only one like it in the country.
- Equestrian Program and British Horse Society: Our equestrian program is available to novice as well as the most experienced riders and we are the only secondary school in the United States to offer the British Horse Society certification. We regularly send students to Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) national competition.
