The aim of Portsmouth Abbey School is to help young men and women grow in knowledge and grace. We are a Catholic, co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through 12. The school is located on a beautiful campus alongside Narragansett Bay, just a few miles from Newport, RI. Our liberal arts curriculum provides a solid foundation, depth of courses to focus on areas of interest, and an emphasis on the ability to write, reason, problem solve, innovate, and communicate clearly. Practically speaking, we offer a range of honors, accelerated, and AP core curricular and elective courses which students may choose. All students are involved in after school activities – choosing from 25 varsity sports, a robust performing arts program, or community service internships.

Portsmouth Abbey is a Catholic school with a mission to help each student grow in knowledge and grace. Our Humanities program is an interdisciplinary Great Books course on the literature, history, theology, and philosophy of western thought, culminating in a trip to Rome.
