At Oldfields School, we understand teenage girls. We believe in their power, both individually and collectively. Every day, our students build self-confidence because we empower them to take risks – participate in new experiences, advocate for themselves, lead by example, and strengthen their identity. The world needs more Oldfields graduates because our motivated, informed, kind, and courageous students know how to navigate and lead in an increasingly complex world. As a boarding and day school grades 8 through 12, our all-girls education embraces each student’s authentic self, educates through collaboration, empowers the individual voice, and inspires confidence and continual growth, leading to a life of purpose.
Unique Characteristics
Experiential Learning Programs: One of the hallmarks of an Oldfields education is our May and Winter Programs – experiential learning experiences that complement the academic curriculum. Galloping across the beaches of the Irish coast, nailing drywall for Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, touring the ruins in Pompeii, writing code for an original video game – the May and Winter Programs can take students just about anywhere! Every year, each student chooses one of the many diverse programs taught by one or more of our committed faculty. May Programs can take them across town, throughout the country, or around the globe, but all involve expanding horizons. The faculty often share a personal passion or area of expertise outside the traditional curriculum, and both teacher and student alike grow from this in-depth, hands-on experience.
Riding Program: An integral part of the Oldfields experience since 1867, the Oldfields Riding Program is dedicated to inspiring our riders to pursue a path of continued growth. Our goals are to develop and enhance a yearning for knowledge, to value the character of the horse and the integrity of the sport, to honor the path of the individual, and to savor the process of learning and the lessons discovered from our relationships with horses.
