Description

There is something magical about the Miss Porter’s School campus, situated in the heart of the village of Farmington. Perhaps it’s its history or its location on the Farmington River. Perhaps it’s its charm and beauty. Or perhaps, it’s the community, which is at once powerful and nurturing, serious and silly.

Founded in 1843 by lifelong scholar and educator, Sarah Porter, Miss Porter`s School is a college preparatory boarding and day school for girls in grades nine through 12. Porter`s offers a diverse high school experience with 335 students hailing from 25 states and 35 countries. The school educates young women to become informed, bold, resourceful and ethical global citizens who will shape a changing world. Our school’s dynamic, rigorous, and innovative approach to education prepares girls to expand their minds and grow into socially engaged, confident young women. Our proven ability to develop strong female leaders has been replicated decade after decade with unquestionable outcomes.

Unique Characteristics

Miss Porter’s School offers advanced studies in our two institutes: Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Global Education. We also provide international travel experiences and internships as well as a Capstone program. Students work to better understand themselves and the world through Porter’s seminars on health and wellness; diversity, equity and inclusion; social-emotional learning, and leadership training.
