Description

A college preparatory coeducational boarding and day school for students ages 13-18 with learning differences. Highly individualized education promotes students’ academic and emotional growth, fostering a life-long love of learning.

Middlebridge is a haven for learning, growing, and belonging. Our multifaceted, integrated, and holistic approach creates confident and capable students who embrace educational opportunities, community engagement, and leadership.

Traditionally, the Middlebridge student presents with specific learning differences such as reading, writing, math, or written expression, attentional diagnoses such as ADHD, Executive Dysfunction, and/or challenges with processing speed. Roughly three-quarters of Middlebridge students have experienced anxiety or school-related anxiety as a part of their individual learning profile.

Middlebridge is privileged to enjoy a campus set on 38 picturesque acres in the heart of Narragansett, RI, across from the Atlantic Ocean. Our campus is anchored by Hazard Castle, a Gothic Revival landmark built between 1846 and 1889 and accented by an imposing tower.

Unique Characteristics

Located directly across from Narragansett Bay, Middlebridge has an exceptional Environmental Science and Agriculture program. Students have the opportunity to do field work in both disciplines, and the school gardens bring local produce to a whole new level, feeding the school population.

Middlebridge School’s innovative Emotional Intelligence classes allow students to focus on their potential for emotional development, understanding of psychology, leadership, mindfulness, growth mindset, and resilience. Teaching metacognition, or “thinking about thinking,” through the cultivation of mindfulness, promotes students to become confident, passionate, and engaged adults. Their introspection and subsequent fostering of natural talents is key to giving young people an optimistic vision about the future, directly leading to motivated success and the abilities to direct, then sustain, capability in their chosen fields.
