Idyllwild Arts Academy is an internationally recognized boarding school (9th-12th; PG) (August through May) distinguished by close cooperation between an arts faculty of active professional artists and an outstanding academic faculty. The Academy’s unique arts/academics cross-pollination inspires creativity and innovation in all its students, whether or not they aim for an arts career. The talented young people who travel from dozens of different countries and pursue excellence, according to their individual choice, in Music, Visual Arts, Theatre, Dance, Film and Digital Media, Interdisciplinary Arts, Fashion Design, or Creative Writing, become professional artists, surgeons, lawyers, environmental scientists, inventors, entrepreneurs, high-tech executives, and even high-end wedding planners. The campus sits on 205 forested acres in the mountains of Southern California.
The Art in Society (AIS) program recognizes that art can have an impact that transcends individual, isolated achievements. AIS encourages students to explore how creative impulses can be satisfied through healthy human connections, effectively empowering young citizen-artists. The Arts Enterprise Laboratory funds masterclasses taught by distinguished visiting artists, resident teaching internships for rising artists who have recently graduated from colleges or conservatories, and special arts projects created by Idyllwild Arts Academy students.
