Description

Founded in 1814, Emma Willard School is one of the oldest all-girls schools in the country. Madame Emma Hart Willard founded her school on the basis of providing girls with a first-class education that challenged and inspired, and she did this at a time when school for girls did not yet exist. More than 200 years later, we proudly continue to carry on her vision.

Emma Willard School strives to educate a generation of learners ready and able to address and lead in the most pressing issues of their time. We are constantly engaged in shaping a curriculum that balances breadth, depth, and a multidisciplinary understanding of learning.

The campus is located in Troy, NY, just twenty minutes from the state capital of Albany, three hours from New York City and Boston, and a short drive from the beautiful Adirondack Park.

Unique Characteristics

1. The Signature and STEAM Research Programs allow students to complete year-long independent study projects with local experts/mentors at area businesses and universities during their junior and/or senior years.

2. Emma’s Ninth Grade Program is designed to guide students through their pivotal first year of high school and set them on a path to becoming confident, prepared, appreciated, and reflective citizens.
