Our community-oriented environment is supportive and diverse, promoting and valuing intellectual challenges and emphasizing the arts, athletics, and cultural competence.

Unique Characteristics

Academic Support – Cushing was an early leader in Academic Support, and the Academic Support program is central to the Academy’s ethos as an inclusive community. The support we offer is unique and holistic. Our experienced specialists assist students with a variety of learning differences (including but not limited to ADHD, dyslexia, executive function, test anxiety, and health impairments) in a way that allows them to fully integrate with the full Cushing experience.

Visual and Performing Arts — Cushing offers extensive programs in both visual and performing arts led by professionally trained and practicing artists. Whether drawn to the stage, the studio, or the practice room, students have the freedom to rigorously explore their creative side at Cushing with both academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Athletics — Featuring 36 teams in 13 sports, Cushing Academy offers outstanding athletic opportunities for both high-performing athletes and those new to competitive athletics. With excellent facilities, two on-staff athletic trainers, and a roster of seasoned coaches, Cushing has claimed 25 NEPSAC championships in the last 17 years. 40% of senior varsity athletes go on to play in college and 50+ Cushing athletes have been drafted or gone pro. Wherever you are as a student-athlete, coming to Cushing Academy will bring your game to the next level.
