Description

Applewild is a co-ed, day (18 mos – 9th grade) and junior boarding (4th – 9th grade) school that offers an exciting, student-centered learning experience on a 28-acre campus in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. We are a metacognitive school and we help each student to become the protagonist in their own education. Applewild’s program empowers students to develop their academic abilities, discover their strengths and talents, and practice the school’s core values of: respect, fairness, responsibility, compassion, cooperation, honesty, and civic-mindedness.

The Applewild School motto ‘A Belief in the Future’ encapsulates our view that the ages we serve represent the most important window for human development. We cherish the opportunity to help our students grow into empathetic leaders and changemakers before they matriculate to secondary school. Our students graduate with strong metacognition skills, with the ability to independently plan, monitor, and reflect on their performance. Our vibrant day and junior boarding program allows students from 25 towns in MA and NH, along with students from across the country and around the world to thrive.

Unique Characteristics

Applewild School teaches 8th and 9th-grade students together in a thematic, interdisciplinary loop, a developmentally appropriate way to “launch” students powerfully to secondary school.

Applewild is redefining the dyslexic school experience with our Foundations program for students in grade 2-9 with language-based learning differences.

Applewild offers Ski Hawks Academy slalom and giant slalom racing for athlete-scholars in grades 5-9 in partnership with nearby Wachusett Mountain Resort.
